Prague, Copenhagen, Vienna, Berlin, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Helsinki...ahh...Europe.
Gawd. Finally got my storyboard all done. Can you believe it?! A 5 minute storyboard, 10 pages long, 60 frames. Like what the?! I so dont want to imagine how long Hollywood storyboards are. Im just going to kill myself if i ever have to draw another woman, boy and man, whether stick-figure or not. Urgh.
Anyway, i was watching this really cool doco on SBS on Fri evening, just before Mary Poppins on 7, and it was about the history of royal families in Europe. Immediately it just reminded me of what else, history, but of course the doco was definitely many times more engaging. Sadly, we didnt get to hear Prince William talking about his ancestors' history, but there was still Prince Frederik of Denmark (Mary Donaldson is one lucky woman - how rarely (by rarely i mean impossible) do you actually get to become a Princess and future Queen?!?!)
Anyway, watching history docos was the very reason why i absolutely fell in love with the subject, particularly European history. Kings, queens, princes, dukes etc., its just so amazing cos you dont get that at home (Sultan not counted), and especially all the royal family parades and magnificent European palaces. How wow is that?! Yet somehow i guess when we approach it in a "studying"sort of way, all the fascination just fades away cos we're no longer understanding how these Kings or Queens came about but instead, trapped in a context of forcing ourselves to learn the process of it. Whether or not this is considered memorising is not the point of contention, instead, its all a matter of how we no longer sit back and listen to stories of how empires rise and fall, of who became King or Queen, or of how the people lived under a particular reign. Perhaps if we had our own line of monarchy, gothic architecture and royal family parading down City Hall, Boon Kong wouldnt be balding so much.
