Damn. Im so sleepy. Got up at 8 this morning even though its my off day today cos had to meet Mark to do some editing...Zzzzzz. I guess i should be optimistic and be thankful that at least i have a sweet and enthusiastic groupmate unlike other people eh. Cant wait to see our final product.

Gawd, i have so many assignments waiting to be done. Mini-doc, film review journal, readings, script, storyboard, online assignment and mci research questions. Bleah. Next week's tuition free week so hopefully i can get my stuff done asap then i can take a short break. I am so not looking forward to my Thelma and Louise presentation in week 8.

And why is it raining these few days. The bloody weather shouldnt be so cold dammit. It's the end of winter!!! I wanna wear my short sleeves. Grr.

Ooh anyway, i still cant get over Singin' in the Rain after the screening yesterday. Didnt get a chance to catch the musical at the Esplanade previously so i was so looking forward to yesterday's lecture. It's gotta be the best film they've screened so far and one of the best movies i love of all time. Did i mention i just love musicals? The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, My Fair Lady, (not so much Bedknobs and Broomsticks), Moulin Rouge...pity i havent caught Chicago yet! They are pure classics i tell you. Been wanting to get the dvds...hmm maybe i will.

Today's my off day so went to see the uni doc. Apparently, i have a viral infection and not a bacterial one, so the doc said he couldnt prescribe any antiboitics to help me recover. Bleah. Now i have to rely on the cold relief tablets i grabbed from the pharmacy this afternoon. Urgh. I seriously hope i'll get well soon cos i cant stand it anymore!!!

Anyway, we just found out this morning that Michelle, my korean flatmate, is going back to Seoul. For good. The news came quite suddenly and the reason she gave was that her mom back home was kinda ill. We're all not sure if thats exactly it or theres some other cause (eg. relationship woes?) behind this decision. Travis told me she withdrew from all her units a week and a half ago, and probably this decision to leave had already been on her mind for quite some time. But no matter what, we're definitely going to respect her decision although everyone's pretty upset about it. Me included. Although i've only known Michelle for a month or so, and we share the same bathroom, she's been a really good friend to me. No doubt, she's our favourite flatmate and we're all gonna miss her. Particularly the many hilarious crazy moments she kept us alive with. Sigh.

O well, i think someone else is gonna be taking over Michelle's room when she leaves. We heard that theres somebody coming to look at her room tomorrow, and im honestly praying hard that whoever that is, she wont be a bitch. Yeah thats right. So hopefully my new flatmate will be equally nice and crappy, and preferably Asian (even better still, a Hongki!!!)

Im having a blardy flu. Dammit. I hate falling sick. Worse still, i dont even know how the hell i got the cold. Wanted to see the uni gp today but apparently it's all fully booked so my appointment's only tomorrow at 1.30. Hope i can last till then! Argh.

I was initially pretty reluctant to go for lec today being so dizzy and all, plus i reckoned that i could borrow the notes from Sandi; but what the heck, i still went for class cos i had to make a doctor's appointment anyway. Thankfully we ended at 5 and i managed to survive the day.

Im still kinda lethargic and sleepy though. Didnt have a good rest last night cos there was a huge racket going on while i was trying to sleep. My korean flatmate was having a major fight with her boyfriend, so there were screams and shouts, banging of doors and loud wails all occurring at the ungodly hour of 3am. The worst thing about this flat is that there's not a least bit of sound proofing, so even the slightest noise would amplify throughout the entire place and echo itself into every single room. I was practically on the verge of knocking on her door and asking them to keep it down, but i didnt cos my body was simply too ill to function. So, the whole fight lasted an hour or so and at 4, it ended (awfully i guess) and i was finally able to turn in. Thank god my class today was at 2 in the afternoon. Dont know how the rest of my flatmates were taking it though. Sigh.

I hate relationships. I dont understand why people tend to only see the "sweet/lovely" side of it and not realise the lethal part of how it can actually ruin you and others as well. Wait a minute, i should probably use this idea for my scriptwriting assignment! Hmm...

Life, O Life!

I love wednesdays! Who cares if i have a class at 9 and i end at 6?! I still love it cos its ftv 121 day!!! And although there's still my ftv 111 tute that ends at 6, i really thank god for Sandi who always so kind to give me a lift back in her BMW! Lovely.

Thursdays are getting better too i guess. Got to know Yuki, a japanese girl who's in my mci 111 tute. Apparently she's noticed me around and knew my name even before we talked, so hurray, i finally have a jap friend!!! Been waiting for this day man. Gotta grab on to this opportunity and establish reallyyyy good connections with her so hopefully she'll bring me along with her to tokyo next time!!!

Yay, so now i have friends from Oz, the States, Korea, Norway, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Africa and now Japan! Ok, now i want a friend from HK! Hmmm...

Why cup noodles is always the best

This has got to be the WORST day in my entire life. I swear i wont be cooking for the next few days at least.

I was frying some french toast just now when it started to get a little smoky. Then the frying ladle (or whatever you call it) which was hard plastic, started to melt. It was definitely an omen i tell you. I should have just abandoned my attempt at cooking, but no, being a smart-alec and thinking it was normal for smoke to be clouding the stove, i continued my frying. Only when i melted another ladle did i turn the stove off. Less than a minute later, an alarm sounded, and thinking it was just an alarm clock, i turned around only to find that the entire kitchen and lounge area was shrouded with thick smoke! Then my korean flatmate came rushing out of her room panicking and asking what happened, and at the same time opening all doors and windows, and only then did it dawn on me that it wasnt a loud alarm clock that sounded but the fire alarm. Both of us began panicking when 2 guys (the RAs) rushed into our flats, shouting and got us to evacuate the room. They knocked, banged on and charged into every single room of my flatmates (where fortunately they werent in) trying to get everyone to go downstairs, and my flatmate and i just followed suit. Within seconds, everyone from my block was assembled at the open space (thank god there werent many people around cos everyone's out on a Sunday), and then we heard the fire engine heading in our direction. I just thought to myself "Uh oh, i've gotten myself into deep shit!" So the entire fire rescue team arrived, complete with trucks and all, led by a couple of Curtin security cars. They inspected the area and turned the alarm off finally after 3 minutes or so. At the same time, the RAs started questioning me, followed by the security people, and then they called me up to my flat where i had to explain what had happened, which occurred because i didnt switch on the fan. Yikes. They said if the fire rescue team were to charge the House for the incident, i'll be fined ALOT. But being a first time offender and a new resident, i probably will be let off with a warning only so im praying really hard!!! Please God!!!

Shucks, i feel so horrible right now. Its the worse that could actually happen and it did. I've got a whole lot of explaining and apologising to do, and i really hope they'll accept it. ARGH. Why the hell did i have to cook?!?! I hate myself!

Yes bibi, i heard your call! Man, u really should join me here!!! There's a hell lot of eye-candies to keep you busy and you'll probably suffer from serious diabetes. Left, right, front, back - you're just surrounded by them all. Which, of course, is a good source of motivation to go to school and hang around campus even after your last classes. (Yes, im guilty of that).

Anyway, Lim San and i were talking about this yesterday, and we came to the common realisation that everyone, yes, EVERYONE, here is good-looking. Yeah like who doesnt know that. Fellow schoolmates, the checkout guys/girls, the fastfood cashiers, the store assistants, the people at the busstop/on the bus etc., every single Australian is just so darn attractive. Being planted in the midst of all these gorgeous mates simply makes us so feel inferior. Sigh.

Also, i didnt notice until lim san told me that no one wears glasses at all here. Which was so true when i started observing. Everywhere you turn, all you see are beautiful blue/green/brown eyes that sparkle. When we were at Jay Jays at HarbourTown today, this girl (the store assistant) greeted us and both of us were immediately drawn to her eyes cos they were just so blue and sooooo alluring. We turned to each other and were like "Did you see her eyes? Did you see her eyes? So beautiful rite?!?! Wa lao, if only i had eyes like hers!" Apparently they were so bewitching that i ended up buying 3 pieces of clothing from there.

O and when we were checking out at Woolworths, we saw this reallllyyyyyyy cute guy at the next express counter. He was VERY cute, and by stressing the word VERY, i mean DROP-DEAD. Yum. A pity it was the express counter or we could have gotten a closer and longer look. Nevermind, i still like my eye-candy at Coles (sadly, i dont know if its because vacation's over or something but i seldom catch him stocking up the shelves anymore :( )

But yeah Mich, you should honestly come visit me some day!!! You'll be blinded i tell you.

Tutes, Lecs and Films

Okayyy, its second day of school, and i love it! Well, except for some of the assignment parts that is.

But yeah, Mon was quite alright for a start. I woke up late cos my ftv 111 (history of screen language) lec was only at 2pm so no monday blues thats for sure. There were quite a number of people in my lec, mostly caucasians needless to say, around 60 or so. Some were kinda queer, some were normal, and some were...slack. There was the girl with the whole Kelly Osbourne image (and she did manage to pull it off), another guy who resembled a dark alley mugger with the Afro-plaited hair and all, and another girl who sat beside me who came for lec all decked out in her best brands from top to toe and with that LV bag mounted firmly on the table. Then at the other extreme end there were the guys with the oblivious heck-care attitudes - the unkempt hair, the baggy worn-out tshirt and tattered jeans complete with filthy sneakers. Observing all the different kinds of people around you really serves as great pre-lecture entertainment.

Anyway, my lecturer's this Antonio guy, and we had a 50 min formal lec on film types followed by a film screening of an Aussie production called Beneath Clouds, about some aboriginal culture/identity thing. Apparently this is the format of the 4 hour lecture every week - a short lec and then a film show. Quite cool, it's almost the same as doing lit, except that instead of analysing texts, we analyse films. Can get a little mind-boggling though. Plus there're lots of readings to do! And i thought that would be the last i would see of it in history class. Sigh.

Yeah, and i had yesterday off (although Tues is my official laundry, grocery shopping, revision day).

Today, i had my ftv 121 screen production tute/workshop at 9! i had to drag myself out of bed at 8. zzz. But i love ftv 121 the most! And i got to know Erline, who's Sporean too, and Laasheetha, who's Msian and both really awesome people. Thank god for them. But yeah, i love all the practical stuff we're gonna do! got introduced to the DV8s and tripods we'll be handling for our 1st year assignments (the more sophisticated cameras are reserved for 2nd year onwards, damn) , the editing/post-production suites, and the 2 min mini-doc that we're supposed to start production on next week. Feeling all the frenzy already but im looking forward to it! In the afternoon, had the ftv 121 lec, which also went great, and we kicked off with sound. So we got to watch different clips from films like Apocalypse Now, Band of Brothers, Silence of the Lambs, Raging Bull etc. and got introduced to the different sound tracks and sound production. Love it!

After our lec, it started to rain (brrrr...) and had to rush for our ftv 111 tute. Woah, it was crowded for a tute, but yeah, did some getting-to-know-each-other stuff, which wasnt as bad as i thought, and got to know an Aussie girl Claire who was really nice and who loved Moulin Rouge and Baz Luhrmann too! And apparently, because we were supposed to state our favourite movie, there was another girl (who doesnt look Sporean but probably is) who named I Not Stupid as her fave. I was like...?! Eww. Ok, it's an "educational" show but i have to admit that im biased cos i simply hate jack neo productions (probably with the exception of Home Run).

O and we dont have exams for ftv! Goodie. Or not. Cos all our assignments and class participation are counted towards the final grade. Damn. i have to start talking. Grr.

So yeah, thats pretty much school for these couple of days. Have my MCI classes over the next 2 days (which i hope goes well) and i'll probably be camping over at lim san's on fri nite! we're intending to hang out cos fri is late shopping night! Yeah! Pathetic, but we need it! Haha. Ok, im gonna make dinner now. Starving.

Fried rice anyone?

I seriously cant cook for nuts. Wanted to have some fried rice for lunch just now but apparently it turned out to be some gross disgusting-looking awful-tasting gooey rice mashed with pathetically chopped carrots, a few strands of xiao bai cai and bits of chicken strewn all over the pan. I was almost ready to puke when i saw it, and definitely on the verge of throwing up everything when i forced it down my throat.

I honestly think i should stick to pizza and instant noodles till i get some decent cooking lessons at least.
