Im so depressed i decided to blog again to relieve my stress. No, its not stress from all the assignments or deadlines but the thought that that i cant go home as scheduled!!! $(*^)*%^$&. All that angst and frustration is building up inside me right now thanks to a whole bloody chain of events.
It all got triggered off cos XXX our competent (ahem) DOP didnt do a gate check properly so the film footage for darn pilot scene (o that detested scene!) turned out all double-visioned. So of course we cant submit a film with a dodgy scene, can we? Course not, so, what do we do? What else but reshoot (yes, hop on the exclusive unprofessional imcompetent moron film students bandwagon!)?! Ok so we schedule a reshoot asap - in 2 days time which was good cos its cloudy (yay, lighting continuity!)- but then! Gasp! Heaven forbid, the storm had to rage that very day and drown out every possible hope of even trying to get out of the car! Perfect. Ok, so fine, we'll re-re-shoot on Saturday - a fine day the trusty forecast predicted, or rather, too fine indeed (now there's really gonna be a lighting continuity problem cos it just had to be the brightest October day). Good, everything went well, the footage sent off on Monday for processing, and um, since its just 1 roll of film, it should come back in a week's time right? WRO-ONGGG. It took 2 bloody weeks just to process 1 pathetic roll of film. By the time it came back, what date was it? The 20-darn-7th of October thank you very much. Hmm ok, maybe if i dedicate my entire week 14 just to editing this "new" scene and Claire can then re-do the sound next week, i should still manage to scrape by and get on that flight back home on the 12th eh? Ohh no...everybody's been going on and on about how ALL the sound for the entire film has to be redone even though we're only replacing one miserable boring scene that doesnt even have any audio affiliation with the rest whatsoever. Because of that, Claire's not even certain about how she has to do it, or rather, how LONG she'll have to take to redo it. And while Claire generously offered to come in the DSP at night next week (since Ben's booked all the days) to start on it earlier just for my selfish sake; i cant possibly have the heart to let the poor girl sacrifice all her other assignments just for me, can i?! So then, we'll just have to wait till after the screening on Wed; but we if take it from there, it means that there's only 3 days for Claire to redo a job that took her twice the number of days she did it the first time. So for one, it would be a practically impossible task and two, i would be such a lowdown despicable merciless scum if i were to go along with it. What is the final, conclusive result then? That i'll have to postpone my return flight date by another 3 more days so that Claire has enough time to do the sound and i can transfer it all back to Avid and get it onto dvd and distribute a copy to everyone after that. (Note that i still am being selfish here cos i only extended my already long-overdue stay by 3 days - hello, thats an additional 72 hours of agony for me ok - but i dont give a damn. If i dont put my foot down, these people are going to think they can dilly-dally till, who knows, Razor day itself on 4th Dec even.)
Yes. So then, that's the whole story. Man, it feels a lot better now after all that bitchy prima donna whining. Its friggin distressing to see how 1 person's careless error can spark off such a monstrosity of events. And not once did the culprit even mutter a single word alphabet of regret. I know it seems like im making a mountain out of a molehill, but it doesnt just affect me alone; it affects everyone else in the group cos of all the extra time that has to be spent just to repair one person's damage when that time could have been put to better use (like focusing on assigments and our other neglected units instead). URGH. Ok whatever. It's all too late so i'll officially shut up now (finally, i know).
O well. The countdown still stands at 2 weeks as of now. -_-
Pray hard for me. Please!
