Damn. My official first week of work is barely over and im feeling terribly sian already. Not that i hate the job though, i just dread and detest the fact that i have to keep repeating and explaining the same whole chunk of stuff a million times every day. And sometimes we also get calls from those old ah peks (usually 55 and above) who are not only extremely lor sor, they also hog the line and tell you their entire life history. Fortunately for me, i only get 2 or 3 of those calls in a week. But i really pity some of my friends/collegues who are always really suay to get at least 2 or 3 of those calls a day. The funny thing is, those who always relate their grandfather stories over the phone are always grandfathers/uncles and never once a grandmother/auntie. Geez.
And yes, almost three-quarters of the calls i received today required me to repeat the whole damn paragraph of instructions (on how to encash their shares) and to explain to them how come they havent been allotted their damn shares yet (because they only made their cpf contribution in Dec'03). Every time i get such calls i'll just slouch in my chair or swivel around in it, play with the telephone wire, or change my screensaver settings. I've almost run out of things to do while almost losing my voice at the same time. Grr. So people put there, if your parents/grandparents/aunties/uncles face the problems that are stated above, please kindly convey the explanation stated above to them so we wont get long queues of calls enquiring the same typical questions. I would greatly appreciate all the help i can get cos it's completely exhausting to have to repeat everything in both English and Chinese. Bleahhh...
I wonder why the stupid government doesnt make a public announcement on how to go about doing all these stuff or to at least send them the blardy blue form this year! Sigh, everybody's complaining and all we can do is to keep apologizing on the government's behalf (?!?!?!?!). Arghhh.
But anyway, it's pretty comforting to have really sweet colleagues who sympathise with your plight, mainly because all of us face the same situations. I have to admit that gossiping and complaining among ourselves is really a good outlet and a stress-reliever. Sometimes we even leave the caller holding the line while we walk around dilly-dallying and chatting with each other. Hahaha. O well, it's fun to have all these friends around and i kinda actually miss a couple of them who have been transferred to another floor. Well overall, it sure does make going to work every morning much better.
