TPJC.net announcement : Reminder to JC2 History Students of 2003

This is a reminder to all the JC2 History Students of 2003.

For your 2002 Nov/Dec holiday homework, you have to :

a) consolidate your learning for all topics taught in JC1

b) work through all the JC2 prelim questions for the topics that have been covered. You must do an outline for each question. The outline should include an introduction that states your approach to the question, main areas of discussion, the points in each area and the overall argument.

For those still in doubt, for Paper 9067/1, these include ALL the questions for the topics on 'The French Revolution', 'The Industrial Revolution', 'The New Imperialism', 'Origins of World War I'. For Paper 9067/2, this will be the theme of 'Colonial Rule and Impact'. All these outlines will be collected next year during your first lesson.

The first JC2 History Faculty Test will be in the second week of Term 1, 2003. It will be a full paper for Paper 9067/1, Modern European History. It will be 3 hrs and you have to finish all four questions (including the question on WW1 which is compulsory).

Given the topics covered, you do not have much of choice and you will have to attempt the question on Origins of World War I (compulsory), The French Revolution, The Industrial Revolution and The New Imperialism

Those who do badly will have to see me for remedial and consultation immediately thereafter the return of scripts. The overall ability of the cohort and the performance will also determine the frequency of supplementary, remedials, enrichment lessons, and most importantly tests. This is to ensure less of last-minute panic for your GCE 'A' Levels.

Hard work, practice, consistency and independent thinking are all key pivots to your eventual success for the GCE 'A' Levels in 2003. Good results will only flow from 2 years worth of solid hard work.

The GCE A Levels History curriculum is creative and challenging. Mere rote learning is not sufficient.

Do talk to your seniors to prepare yourself psychologically.
